ANJE reinforces efforts to boost competitiveness in the Algarve

Boosting new companies in the Algarve has been one of the main goals of ANJE

The National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) took advantage of this year's edition of Algarve Tech Hub Summit to reinforce efforts to position the Algarve as a hub innovative and the right choice for those who want to undertake more and better, ending the project In Tech Algarve with two round tables where themes of support policies for incubation and acceleration and the challenges and opportunities of the Algarve ecosystem were discussed.

This project, which has the support of CRESC Algarve 2020, was developed over two years with a focus on topics such as the challenges and opportunities emerging in sustainability; the importance of internationalization and international cooperation; digital transition; mobility; automation of processes or even the competitiveness of the regional economy, among others.

The initiative relied on the efforts of several entities, 86 speakers and brought together 327 participants. To accelerate some businesses and give them more capacity to access funds and leverage investments, ANJE invited 20 mentors to accelerate the businesses of 20 entrepreneurs.

“In this project, ANJE and the University of Algarve wanted to focus their efforts on training institutions, with incubation infrastructures and their incubators with different areas of specialization emerging from RIS3. In addition, we continue to take advantage of all the projects to foster the entrepreneurial spirit, establish new entrepreneurs in the region and accelerate business, giving them tools to consolidate existing ideas and businesses”, highlights Alexandre Meireles, president of ANJE.

Boosting new companies in the Algarve has, in fact, been one of the main objectives of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs. The idea is to continue to improve conditions, namely through the requalification of spaces for hosting businesses, with a view to accelerating and systematizing the process of creating companies.

For ANJE, it is important that «entrepreneurs can count on a reinforcement of the set of competences and specific support; offering flexible incubation spaces with controlled costs; access to mentors and investors; connection to various entities; promotion between companies and market. The main objective is to continuously improve the conditions for learning and entrepreneurship».

All the unions that ANJE has encouraged «are especially relevant, taking into account the disparities in the economic dynamics of the coastal territory and inland territory and the weaknesses of the economic fabric», stresses the association.
