“Algarve Camerata” perform at the Mother Church of Albufeira

“Algarve Camerata” is the name of the cultural project that will be presented next Saturday, July 8th, at 22:00, at Igreja Matriz in Albufeira.

The program includes a repertoire under the direction of João Miguel Cunha. At first, the composition by Max Reger (1873/1916) – Andante Lírico; then João Pedro Cunha plays a concerto for Violin and Orchestra in E minor OP. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn. The program ends with Rondo K. 485 in D Major WA Mozart (1758/1791).

The “Algarve Camerata” is a Chamber Orchestra, founded in 2016, and is composed of professional musicians from the Algarve or residents. It is based around a dozen musicians, usually inviting a soloist to each of its concerts.

In this concert, on violins 1st will be Pedro Sá, Romeu Madeira and Federica Acetosi; in the 2nd Violins, Catherine Francis and Esmeralda Martins; on Viola, Martin Turnlund; on Cellos, Gabriela Magalhães and Catarina Putzger and on Double Bass, Bruno Martins.

In a note, the Chamber of Albufeira recalls that the Orchestra has already performed in the main municipalities of the Algarve, with renowned soloists and conductors
such as Richard Galliano, Adrien Rodriguez, Gonçalo Pescada, Handel Cecílio, João Cunha, among others.

In 2022, on the initiative of the musician João Miguel Cunha, and through private sponsorship, a series of concerts with the title “Algarve Camerata in residence…” began. That year, performing in the two main churches in Lagos, he presented seven different programs, having as soloists, among others, flute, bassoon, marimba and cello performers.

In May of this year, the Spring/Summer season began, which will last until the end of July.
