Santa Casa de Faro buys an electric vehicle to make support for users more “green”

Vehicle was purchased with support from the PRR

The home support provided by Santa Casa da Misericórdia (SCM) Faro service to its users became “greener” last week, with the entry into service of the electric vehicle adapted for wheelchairs that this institution acquired, with co-financing from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The vehicle is 100% electric and «capable of transporting up to 9 passengers». The administrative table of the SCM of Faro opted to request the transformation of the passenger compartment, in order to incorporate a ramp that allows access for users in wheelchairs.

«With a range of approximately 330 kilometres, the new vehicle will also serve to provide the usual trips to users of other areas, in particular to residents of any of the institution's three homes, and also for travel on business by our professionals» , according to the Farense SCM.

The total investment was 69.527 euros, with co-financing of 25.000 euros from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

For José Candeias Neto, provider of the Santa Casa de Faro, «the acquisition of this vehicle responds to an urgent need of the institution taking into account the age of the car fleet at its disposal, fulfilling our commitment to provide more and better conditions of safety and comfort to our users and employees».

But the objective is also to reduce the emission of polluting gases, thus contributing to decarbonization.

«This is a relevant measure that we have taken to boost the energy transition in our institution, in line with all the investments that we are preparing in our valences, where we intend to achieve self-sufficiency in energy terms», adds the provider.
