The great winner of the XV Algarve Wine Contest was Quinta da Tôr – Grande Reserva Algibre Red 2017, whose results were announced this Friday, June 2, at a ceremony at the Vale d'Oliveiras Quinta Resort & Spa, in Carvoeiro (Lagoa).
Although the winners were only known yesterday, the tasting took place on the 26th of May, at the Convento de S. José, in Lagoa, with the technical direction of the competition under the responsibility of the Algarve Wine Commission, with the support of the Municipality of Lagoa.
More than 100 Algarve wines were tasted, including whites, rosés and reds from 26 producers.
In total, 32 wines were awarded: 20 silver medals, 11 gold medals and, the great winner, with the Great Gold Medal.
«The objective of the Algarve Wine Competition is to award prizes to bottled wines from the Algarve. The aim is to stimulate the production of quality wines, as well as to promote the best wines produced in the Algarve Region», explains the Algarve Wine Commission.
