Faro lives “Summer Solstice” with Nininho Vaz Maia and Richie Campbell

Events will take place mostly on the Palco da Doca

The animation program “Summer Solstice”, which aims to mark the beginning of the summer season, runs from 21st to 24th of June, in Faro, and includes concerts by Nininho Vaz Maia and Richie Campbell. 

The events included in this program, which will take place mainly on the Palco da Doca, will start with the “Festa da Música”, on Wednesday, the 21st, followed by a concert by Nininho Vaz Maia, on Thursday, the 22nd. , Richie Campbell and DJ Chus, on Friday the 23rd, and Solstice Days on Saturday the 24th.

Organized by the Alliance Française de L'Algarve and with the support of the Municipality, the French Embassy in Portugal and the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos (ARCM), the first edition of the “Festa da Música” will take place at Palco da Doca, on the 21st, from 19:00.

The initiative, free of charge, will include about four hours of live music, with French-speaking, Portuguese-speaking and international groups of various styles, namely the Escola de Música Moderna do Sul, from ARCM, Podium (French-Portuguese orchestra, Jean-Christian and the Quator des Rêves Enfouis and Tareja Blues Band.

On the 22nd, Thursday, highlight for the Portuguese singer and composer Nininho Vaz Maia, who performs from 22:00 on the Palco da Doca. On the following day, Friday, Richie Campbell, a leading figure in national reggae, will perform on the Palco da Doca also from 22 pm, followed by a performance by DJ Chus at 00 am.

On the 24th, Saturday, the Coral Ossónoba Group, which celebrates its 43rd anniversary on this day, will once again promote the “Solstice Days” initiative, an itinerant event that will start at 20 pm in Largo da Pontinha and end on Dock Stage.

This set of initiatives, promoted by the Municipality in partnership with the Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve (ACRAL), Association for the Commercial Development of the Historic Area of Faro, Cultural and Activist Association of Baixa de Faro and Associação dos Industriais Hoteleiros e Similares do Algarve (AIHSA), aims to continue to boost downtown and support and revitalize trade, hotels and restaurants in the city and municipality.

Moreover, according to the Chamber of Faro, «from this date, and throughout the summer, the Palco da Doca will be the epicenter of various entertainment initiatives in the downtown area promoted by the Municipality and by several other communities in the municipality, the complete program of which will be announced shortly» .
