Algarve 2020 supports investments of 7,7 million euros in hospitals in the Algarve

Applications in the area of ​​health for funds from the next Community Support Framework have also been approved

The Algarve 2020 Regional Program reinforced funding for projects in the health area, with investments in infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment, «essential and strategic for improving the quality of the service provided by the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA)», announced the Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve.

In all, CHUA will invest around 2023 million euros by the end of 7,7, of which 4,6 million will be guaranteed by the European Union, through the ERDF.

The bet that is in progress joins the works already concluded or in the process of being concluded by CHUA, in the amount of 2 million euros.

With regard to 7,7 million euros, the largest share will go towards the modernization of equipment in CHUA's operating rooms, for which 4,7 million euros are earmarked (2,8 million co-payments).

Investment in infrastructure will amount to 2,99 million euros (1,8 million co-payment) and includes, among others, the refurbishment of the Operating Room to reinforce the Emergency activity and the reinforcement of funds for the construction of the new continuous care unit in the CMRSul.

Under the Portugal 2030 Extraordinary Anticipation Mechanism, two applications were submitted in the area of ​​Primary Health Care: the construction of the USF Lauroé, UCC and University Health Centre, in Loulé, and the construction of the USF in São Brás de Alportel, which will cost, respectively, approximately 4 million and 1,7 million euros.
