Albufeira already has a Municipal Health Council. The installation meeting took place on the 11th of May
The Municipal Health Council (CMSA) of Albufeira is composed of the mayor, who presides, the president of the Municipal Assembly, a president of the Parish Council elected in the Municipal Assembly, president of the ARS - Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, Executive Director of ACES (Group of Health Centres), president of the Clinical Council of ACES, a representative of an IPSS, a representative of Social Security services and a representative of associations in the area of Health.
«When your contribution to the discussion of matters on the agenda is considered relevant, the mayor of Albufeira, on his own initiative or at the proposal of at least one third of the members of the Municipal Health Council, may invite you to participate in the meetings, without right to vote, personalities of recognized merit in the area of health», explains the Câmara de Albufeira.
According to mayor José Carlos Rolo, «the next step is to approve the Regulations in the Municipal Assembly».
«This is a priority action, insofar as the regiment is the document that defines the rules that establish the CMSA, as well as its composition, powers and operating rules», says the mayor.
The CMSA meets twice a year, or whenever necessary, and is responsible for: contributing to the definition of a health policy at municipal level, issuing opinions on the municipal health strategy and on the planning of the network of units of primary health care, propose the development of health promotion and disease prevention programs, promote the exchange of information and cooperation between the entities represented and recommend the adoption of measures and present proposals and suggestions on issues related to health; analyze the functioning of health establishments integrated in the decentralization process.
The Municipality of Albufeira will now also move forward with the elaboration of the Municipal Health Strategy aligned with the National Plan and the Regional and Municipal Health Plans.
