The University of Algarve (UAlg) achieved platinum status, the highest certification level, in the FISU Healthy Campus program.

UAlg validated 94 of the 100 criteria established by FISU in the fields of Healthy Campus Management, Physical Activity and Sports, Nutrition, Disease Prevention, Mental and Social Health, Risk Behavior, Environment, Sustainability and Social Responsibility.

In 2020, the Healthy Campus Worldwide Certification program had 93 universities from over 31 countries. Currently, it has spread to all continents and covers 122 higher education institutions.

The survey of good practices developed by the UAlg was carried out by the working group “Sustainable and healthy UAlg+”.

FISU Healthy Campus is an initiative that aims to improve the overall well-being of students. FISU's objective with this project is to establish an interdisciplinary system dedicated to well-being, a healthy lifestyle and raising students' awareness of these aspects.

«This project also seeks to share knowledge and good practices at a local and global level, which influence other areas related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The program also focuses on criteria such as gender equality, reducing inequalities, increasing inclusion, sustainable community development, climate action, partnerships and synergies, among many others», says UAlg.
