The inauguration of the Sociocultural Building, in Praça do Mar, will be one of the highlights of the commemoration program for the city of Quarteira, this Saturday, May 13th.
The start of the celebrations begins at 9 am, in Largo do Centro Autárquico, with the usual raising of the flag, set to music by the Philharmonic Band Artistas de Minerva, and with the graduation of the Municipal Firefighters of Loulé.
The Sociocultural Building located in Praça do Mar, in Quarteira, will be officially inaugurated at 10:00 am.
Telmo Pinto, president of the Parish Council of Quarteira, says that, «in collaboration with Vítor Aleixo, mayor of the City Council, this building responds to the demands of the social work that has been done with the community.»
«It is the result of the growth of the technical capacity of this team, ready to provide answers of this dimension, because for the first time, JF acquired its own assets, since it became the owner of this building», adds the mayor.
This new space will host training actions and protocols with various entities and local associations, as well as activities developed in the “Quarteira – Longevity with Quality” Programme, namely by Academia do Saber, a community intervention project, which involves hundreds of trainees in the context of active and healthy ageing.
Since the inauguration is a ceremony reserved for official entities, a set of activities are planned on the Open Days of June 9 and 10, to give the general population the opportunity to get to know the space and enjoy the facilities, before the start of the school year.
At 12:00 noon, a visit is scheduled to the exhibition “Quarteira – Longevity with Quality”, at the Praça do Mar Art Gallery, which intends to show the dynamics of some classes at the Academia do Saber, and other activities that make up the programme, such as the Social dances.
A protocol will be signed between the Municipality of Loulé and the GNR, within the scope of security in Vilamoura, at 15 pm, in the Auditorium of the Municipality Centre, where the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the city will end.
The event is jointly organized by the Parish Council of Quarteira and the Municipality of Loulé.
