Portimonense thrashed by Benfica closer to the title

Portimonense lost 1-5 to Benfica, in a match for the 32nd round of the I Liga, played this Saturday, May 13, in Portimão. In the fight for the title, there were thousands of Benfica supporters in the stands. 

The Algarve got off to a bad start.

In the 4th minute, Aursnes crossed a ball on the right and Grimaldo appeared at the far post. Benfica's left defender headed it in, Nakamura saved it, but the referee considered that the ball had already crossed the goal line.

The bid was still analyzed by VAR, but Artur Soares Dias' decision was not changed.

Unable to impose their game, the Algarve conceded another goal, at 28', unfortunately for Relvas.

João Mário crossed from the right and, when trying to cut it, the central defender of Portimonense scored an own goal.

Despite the disadvantage, the Algarve even managed to balance the match and reached the goal at 38'. Seck hit a free-kick on the right, the ball hit Morato and João Mário, left for Pedrão and the Portimonense player shot it into the back of the net.

The game seemed to be relaunched, but Park made a mistake and practically handed Benfica a new goal. The South Korean defender tried to play, lost the ball in midfield, Neres led the counterattack and Ramos scored the third for the Reds.

In the second half, despite Paulo Sérgio's changes, the Algarve never managed to threaten Benfica's goal. that was managing the advantage.

At the end of the match, the reds would even score two more goals: both by Musa (87' and 90').

With maintenance assured, Portimonense continues with the same 34 points and is in 13th position.
