Orquestra do Algarve gives concert in Armação de Pêra

Program combines two works by masters of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries

The Church of Armação de Pêra will host, next Sunday, May 14, at 21:00, another concert by Orquestra do Algarve, with free admission.

In this concert, you will be able to listen to a program that combines two works by masters of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, both rarely heard and which share, in their genesis, the principle of the method behind the compositional act.

Penderecki, a devout Catholic, writes a “chacona” in memory of Pope John Paul II. This musical form is characterized by the repetition of the same harmonic patterns, unfolding as an exercise in method and mastery in conducting music.

The Rimsky-Korsakov sextet, the only work that the Russian composer wrote for this group, constitutes a rare exercise for this composer, who here dedicates himself to the most classic forms of music history, even submitting the composition to a competition, where only came to win the second prize.

Despite exploring the mastery of musical techniques and architectures such as the sonata form or a fugue, this sextet will undoubtedly attract listeners for the variety of atmospheres and the delicacy of its melodies.
