Eighty kilograms of bivalves seized in the Algarve in an ASAE operation

The main objective of the operation is to control and verify the hygiene and food safety conditions of the goods in circulation

Eighty kilos of bivalves without health documentation were seized this morning in Castro de Marim, as part of a national operation that the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) is developing.

As explained to the Lusa agency by the inspector general of ASAE Pedro Portugal Gaspar, this operation in the area of ​​transport of food and non-food goods, which started at 18 pm on Tuesday at the main national land borders and continues until 00 pm today, involves around 20 inspectors.

“Until about 08:30 am, only one infraction was detected in the Algarve, in Castro Marim. A seizure of 80 kilos of bivalves without sanitary documentation, he said.

Pedro Portugal Gaspar said that the main objective of the operation is to control and verify the conditions of hygiene and food safety of goods in circulation and the detection of “possible illicit acts related to goods in transit, with direct consequences for the final consumer”.
