Public Ministry opens inquiry into alleged teacher harassment of minor in Aljezur

The school director opened an inquiry into the case, which is being monitored by the Inspectorate-General for Education and Science

The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) has launched an inquiry into a case of alleged harassment of a minor by a teacher at the Aljezur Basic School, a source from the Attorney General's Office (PGR) revealed to Lusa.

“The initiation of an inquiry that originated in participation is confirmed. The same is under investigation, subject to secrecy of justice”, said the same source to the Lusa agency.

Also questioned by Lusa, a source from the Ministry of Education indicated that the school director opened an inquiry into the case, which is being monitored by the General Inspectorate of Education and Science.

According to information advanced last Friday by the newspaper Correio da Manhã, the complaint of the alleged harassment was formalized on March 31 by people linked to the school establishment.

According to the morning newspaper, in the complaint several physical contacts of a sexual nature were reported, allegedly practiced by a support teacher with a minor under 10 years old, which occurred “inside” that school.

Lusa tried to hear from the director of the Professora Piedade Matoso School Group, which integrates the three educational centers of the municipality - Aljezur, Rogil and Odeceixe -, but without success.
