Material «will be subject to the competent expertise»

The «collection of some material» that will be handed over to the German authorities. This is the result of the searches, in the context of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, which took place until today, May 25, at the Arade dam, in Silves.

The steps ended this Thursday afternoon and the balance has just been made by the Judiciary Police.

In a note sent to the press, the PJ stresses that the "collected material will be delivered to the German authorities, in accordance with the rules of international judicial cooperation".

This operation took place at the Arade dam, on suspicion of this being one of the places frequented by Christian Brueckener, the main suspect in the disappearance of the English child in 2007, and who is being held in Germany for sexual crimes committed in Portugal.

"The operation took place under the coordination of the Judiciary Police, which involved investigators, criminalistics experts and security personnel", adds the PJ, in the same statement.

The works had the participation of the German authorities (BKA) and were attended by British authorities (MPS).

The Judiciary Police also says that «it also had the extraordinary collaboration of the Command of Faro of the National Republican Guard in various aspects, as well as the Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of the Algarve and the Municipality of Silves, with regard to the logistics necessary for the development of the works».
