Young paraglider rescued after falling on Alfamar beach, in Albufeira

The victim was conscious, "but in severe pain", and was transported to the hospital

A 21-year-old Swiss woman was rescued this Friday, May 19, after having suffered a fall while paragliding on Alfamar beach, in the municipality of Albufeira.

The alert was given at 11:15 am, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), and elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão, soldiers of the “Praia Segura” Programme, were immediately activated for the location. , as well as lifeguards on duty on the beach, members of the Volunteer Firefighters of Albufeira and INEM.

According to the National Maritime Authority, upon arrival at the scene, it was found that the victim was conscious, “but in severe pain”, and was immediately assisted and immobilized by firefighters with the support of the “Praia Segura” Program soldiers.

The victim was later transported to the hospital.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the incident.
