Government orders closure of Dice Club in Vilamoura due to episodes of violence

The most recent episode took place on May 14 and involved the use of bladed weapons.

The club Dice Club, in Vilamoura, received a closure order from José Luís Carneiro, Minister of Internal Affairs, «for a maximum period of 6 months», due to «successive and serious disturbing occurrences of public order over the last year» .

According to the Ministry of Internal Administration, «the basis for the application of this precautionary measure was the closure proposal presented by the National Republican Guard (GNR)».

"These acts of violence have been registered inside the disco and in the respective parking lot, the most recent of which was registered on the 14th of May and involved the use of bladed weapons", describes the ministry.

The reopening of the disco "is subject to compliance with the measures defined by the GNR to restore security conditions on site and the normal functioning of the disco".

In addition to the provisional closure measure, the Minister of Internal Administration "also requested the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority to examine compliance with fire safety standards in buildings".
