The Cachopo Music Festival, organized by the Associação de Festas da Freguesia de Cachopo, bids farewell this weekend, on the 13th of May, to the classical music cycle with another chamber concert by Orquestra do Algarve.

In the Church of Cachopo, at 18:00, the chamber group of Orquestra do Algarve will present the concert “Music and Method”, which combines two works by XNUMXth and XNUMXth century masters, Penderecki and Rimsky-Korsakov, with João Castro and Emilian Petrov on violins, Angela Silva and Ivetta Natzkaya on violas and Mikhail Shumov and Jari Piper on cellos.

This is the Orchestra's third and final performance at this year's Cachopo Music Festival. The first took place on the 11th of March and the second on the 15th of April and both were «a success».

This is said by António Branco, president of Associação Musical do Algarve, the entity that manages and administers the Orchestra, who makes a «very positive» assessment of the two concerts that have already taken place and filled the Church of Cachopo.

“People's reactions are very positive. Many had never heard classical music live and heard it for the first time and for us it has also been a very productive and interesting experience, with which we undoubtedly want to continue», he confesses to the Sul Informação, also raising the possibility of doing the same in other locations in the Algarve where «classical music, as a rule, does not reach».

The concert takes place on the same weekend as the Cachopo Products and Handicrafts Fair and two other initiatives promoted in conjunction with the Tavira City Council.

On Saturday, May 13, at 19 pm, after the Orquestra do Algarve concert, the tour “The parish of Santo Estêvão de Cachopo: memory and identity” will take place, also at the Church of Santo Estêvão de Cachopo, with the historian of art Marco Sousa Santos and deacon Albino Martins.

On Sunday, the 14th, at 9:30 am, the tour “The paths of the mountain range between Montes de Cachopo for the interpretation of architecture and landscape” takes place, guided by the architect Miguel Reimão Costa.

Both activities are free and include transport from Tavira, at the responsibility of the municipality, with free time to visit the fair. The transport will be on Saturday, the 13th, at 17:00 pm, and on Sunday, the 14th, at 8:30 am.

Registration for the tour “The parish of Santo Estêvão de Cachopo: memory and identity” can be made here and for the tour “The mountain paths between Montes de Cachopo for the interpretation of architecture and landscape” here, until May 11st.

In recent years, the Parish Council of Cachopo, together with local associations, has sought to boost the cultural and heritage identity of this village in the interior of the Algarve, with a program that has taken thousands to climb the Serra do Caldeirão.

The Music Festival is one of these initiatives, which, through this art, seeks to promote the territory, the landscape, the natural and cultural heritage of the parish, balancing the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental.

In addition to the Classical Music Cycle, the Festival features concerts of traditional Portuguese music, rock, fado and jazz.

Cachopojazz returns on the 29th of July (with a concert at Fonte Férrea), at 19 pm, and on the 00th of October, at 28 pm, there is a new concert at the Alambique de Relvais.

The closing concert of Cachopojazz, which also marks the end of this year's Music Festival, is scheduled for December 3rd, at 17 pm.
