The village of Santa Rita, in the parish of Vila Nova de Cacela, once again honors its patron saint, on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June, with the traditional Feast in Honor of Santa Rita.
In addition to religious ceremonies, the program includes musical shows, dances, traditional games and sports activities.
The high point of the celebrations takes place on Sunday, June 4th, at 19 pm, with the traditional procession. An hour before, the mass and the blessing of roses take place, at 00:18, in the Chapel of Santa Rita.
On the 2nd, Friday, the animation of the dance is in charge of Silvino Campos, joined by the performance of the dance group «Arutla».
On Saturday, the 3rd, the sounds of the dance will be provided by Duo Reflexo, who will share the stage with Rancho Folclórica do Azinhal.
On the last day of the festivities, on the 4th of June, entertainment is provided by «Charanga Los del Ruedo», the group «Sopas de Pão» and dance music by Ângelo Correia.
On Sunday, the program also includes sporting activities: a Guided Bicycle Tour through Mata da Conceição (9:00 am) and a walk integrated in the «Full Moon Nights» (20:30 pm). The actions are promoted by the association «Morcegos – Cacela».
The Feast in Honor of Santa Rita is organized by the Fábrica da Igreja Paroquial de Vila Nova de Cacela, in collaboration with the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António and the Parish Council of Vila Nova de Cacela.
