Teams that will protect the forest in the municipality of Loulé are already on the ground

Surveillance officially starts on the 15th of May and will take place daily from 9:00 am to 21:00 pm

Members of the Municipal Forest Intervention Team and Sapadores Florestais who will protect the forest in the municipality of Loulé are already at work. 

The welcome was given by the mayor Vítor Aleixo on the 3rd of May.

The start of surveillance officially starts on May 15, but until then the teams will have days exclusively dedicated to training and operational training, «in order to be prepared for a hot and dry summer ahead and, as such, with increased risks of forest fire", says the municipality.

Surveillance will take place daily, from 9:00 am to 21:00 pm, with reinforcements planned with other entities that are part of the device, such as the GNR on horseback and Portuguese Army soldiers, in addition to the associations of hunters who are on the ground and the collaboration of the inhabitants of the villages. of parishes in the interior

According to the Loulé Municipal Forest Fire Defense Plan, the risk of forest fire in the municipality is classified as high given the extensive area of ​​forest spaces, which occupies about 65% of the total area of ​​the municipality.
