Sea baptisms in Portimão and Vila Real de Santo António, on board Portuguese Navy ships, will take place on the 19th and 20th of May, as part of the celebrations of the 2023 Navy Day.

The boarding points will be the Naval Support Point in Portimão and the Commercial Pier in Vila Real de Santo António.

Navy Day is celebrated on the 20th of May in honor of the feat of Vasco da Gama who, on that day, in 1498, for the first time in history, connected Europe to the East by sea, with his arrival in Calicut, in India. The main celebrations, this year, take place from the 18th to the 21st of May in the city of Porto.
