Unemployment remains at 6,9% in March but is higher than in the same month

Provisional data released today by the National Institute of Statistics

The unemployment rate was 6,9% in March, equal to February, but higher than the 5,8% of March 2022, according to provisional data released today by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

According to INE’s “Monthly Estimates of Employment and Unemployment”, in March “the unemployment rate stood at 6,9%, equal to February 2023, but higher than December 2022 and March of the same year (0,2 percentage points and 1,1 percentage points, respectively)”.

This INE release raised the February unemployment rate from the initially estimated 6,8% to 6,9%.
