Body of a 66-year-old man found on the bank of the Alvor estuary

The causes behind this occurrence are unknown.

The body of a 66-year-old man of Mozambican nationality was found this morning on the bank of the Alvor estuary, in Portimão, the causes of death being unknown.

According to the National Maritime Authority, the alert was given at 9:32 am by the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon). elements of the Portimão Maritime Police Local Command, crew from the Ferragudo Lifeguard Station, INEM, the Judiciary Police and the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters were activated for the site.

Upon arrival, it was possible to determine the age and nationality of the man, who was removed from the water by the crew of the Ferragudo Lifeguard and transported to the bank of the estuary.

Death was declared on the spot by INEM staff and the body was transported by the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters, after contact with the Public Ministry, to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Portimão.

The Maritime Police Psychology Office was also activated.

The Portimão Maritime Police Local Command took care of the occurrence.
