Cities belonging to the “Lagos do Mundo” network from France, Spain, Greece and Mexico will be present at a meeting that started today, Thursday, the 4th, in Lagos, and will run until the 7th of May.
«25 years after the signature of the first agreement celebrated between the municipality of Lagos (Portugal) and the mairie of Lagos (France), the representatives of the various Lagos of the World meet to renew the interest in the dynamization of this network of localities and to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation», according to the Lacobrigense Chamber.
In addition to the Portuguese and French cities of Lagos (Aquitaine region, Atlantic Pyrenees), this network also includes towns in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga, in Andalusia, Spain, in the municipality of Didymoteicho, in the Evros region, and in Abdera, both in Greece, Lagos de Moreno in the State of Jalisco in Mexico and Los Lagos in the region of Los Rios in Chile.
The visit program began today, the 4th, with the participation of delegations in the Historic Procession that opens the 11th edition of the Festival of Discoveries, in the scope of which the “Encontro Lagos do Mundo” takes place.
Tomorrow, at 15 pm, in the Séc. XXI, the solemn session takes place, «where the parties will formally reiterate their commitment to this partnership, renewing the agreement between the Lakes of the World».
«Representatives of the local forces, namely from the Education sector and cultural and sports associations, were invited to be present and to participate in the work session that will take place continuously, aiming to deepen ideas regarding possible exchange projects to be developed in this context partnership and international cooperation and actively involve the respective resident communities», adds the Câmara de Lagos.
