CCDR marks Europe Day in Faro and Aljezur, with the right to sunset

This year's celebrations will begin in Faro

A “Sunset” Europe, visit to works and much more. The Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve will celebrate Europe Day, this Tuesday, May 9th, in Aljezur and Faro.

This year's celebrations will begin in Faro, in front of CCDR Algarve, at 9 am with the raising of the Flag to the sound of the Anthem of Europe interpreted by 30th grade students of the Elementary School of the 4st Cycle of Alto Rhodes.

This is followed by the performance of the Ukrainian School and the Animashow Youth Association, who will sing and choreograph the Anthem of Europe in Ukrainian.

The program then moves to Aljezur, where “Doors open to Europe” will be held in various locations.

The Plastic Laboratories, which started today, will also have an edition tomorrow, the 9th, from 10 am, at the Headquarters School Prof.ª Piedade Matoso with the visual artist from Olhão Joana Rocha.

At the end, the Europa sunset is held, which aims to be a space for sharing, reflection and mutual knowledge with a class on Europe (with the participation of José Apolinário, in his capacity as a former member of the European Parliament), music from various genders and nationalities.

Joining the celebration of Europe Day are other municipalities in the Algarve, such as Vila do Bispo and Olhão, which will light up public buildings or buildings of historical interest with the colors and/or values ​​of the European Union.

Throughout the month of May, other initiatives are promoted, with the support of Europe Direct Algarve and CCDR Algarve, highlighting the European values ​​of Peace.

On the 12th, at 18 pm, Café com Letras, a joint initiative of the Library of the University of the Algarve (UAlg) and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCA), takes the theme of climate ARTivism to the FNAC space in the Algarve Forum.

On the 18th, at 18:30 pm, the Europe of artists (Build & Inspire) will be celebrated at the Municipal Museum Faro, with the participation of the Creative Europe program and organization of Epopeia Brands, Europe Direct Algarve and the Municipality of Faro.
