Maddie case leads PJ to search the Arade dam

This is not the first time searches have been carried out at the Arade dam.

From this Tuesday, May 23, the Judiciary Police (PJ) will carry out new searches at the Arade dam, 16 years after the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The news was advanced by SIC which explains that the dam used to be frequented by Christian Brueckener, the main suspect in the disappearance of the English child in 2007, and that he is being held in Germany for sexual crimes committed in Portugal.

These searches will take place at the request of the German authorities.

According to the same television station, the objective is "to find out if there are traces or evidence that could bring new data about the disappearance of the child".

This Monday, the 21st of May, the dam area is being delimited.

The searches start tomorrow and should continue "at least until Wednesday, with the help of machinery", according to SIC.

This is not the first time that searches have been carried out at the Arade dam, something that also happened in 2008.

Maddie McCann disappeared in May 2007, in Praia da Luz (Lagos).
