Albufeira Chamber implements Water Safety Plan

According to the mayor, «the results of this project are extremely positive for the municipality»

Albufeira Council implemented a Water Safety Plan (PSA) to guarantee the «quality and quantity of water supplied to consumers».

The PSA was prepared with the support of Luságua– Serviços Ambientais, SA and ranged from risk identification to control measures. The mitigating impact of the proposed measures for the resilience of the system to climate change in different scenarios was also evaluated.

This PSA stems from the Municipality's concern with the quantity and quality of water provided to residents and was based on the WHO reference methodology and the recommendations of ERSAR (Regulatory Entity for Water and Waste Services).

According to the Mayor, «the results of this project are extremely positive for the Municipality, considering that the risk assessment and management of the supply system made it possible to identify and act on the critical aspects of the system».

«The implementation of the PSA also made it possible to streamline procedures and provide important tools to the team responsible for its implementation», said José Carlos Rolo.
