Intermunicipal Assembly approves rendering of accounts and motions in a session in Lagos

The Intermunicipal Assembly of the Algarve approved the 2022 Accountability Documents of AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve, the 1st Review of the Budget and Major Options of the 2023 Plan and motions presented by the Intermunicipal Groups of the CDU and the PAN, in their first session 2023, which took place in Lagos last Friday, April 28th.

In the period before the Agenda, five motions were discussed and approved.

Four of them were presented by the CDU, which saw three unanimously approved (“Salute to the 1st of May, International Workers’ Day”, “Extraordinary Support to the Humanitarian Associations of Volunteer Firefighters in the Algarve” and “The construction of the Bypass cannot be left behind”. to the EN125 in Odiáxere”) and another by majority (“Connection of the Arade irrigation system, Silves block, to the Funcho pipeline – Water Treatment Station (Alcantarilha)”).

The PAN also saw the motion “Immediate end to the felling of trees and extreme pruning in municipal spaces in the Algarve” unanimously approved.

In the Period of the Agenda, the activities that the Algarve Intermunicipal Community developed in the first months of this year were made known, «namely the issue of mobility and the promotion of collective public transport in the region, the issue of water efficiency and initiatives that are underway within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Program to reduce water losses, taking into account the scarcity of water in the Algarve», according to AMAL.

 

 

During the meeting, the Accountability Documents for 2022, AMAL's first Review of the Budget and GOP for 2023 and the first Amendments to its Recruitment Plan and Personnel Map were also approved.

The last point concerned the assessment and approval, based on a proposal from the Intermunicipal Council, of the prior authorization for the assumption of the multiannual commitment, related to the transfer of use of part of the building of the Former Civil Government of Faro.

The session, which was attended by 44 of the 58 members of this AMAL body, took place within the scope of the Intermunicipal Assembly in Motion itinerary, an initiative by the Assembly's President, José Águas da Cruz, «who has been promoting , during his mandate, the holding of these decentralized sessions in the municipalities of the Algarve, with the aim of motivating the people of the Algarve to discuss the major issues concerning the region».

Since the beginning of this route, in December 2021, the Intermunicipal Assembly has already held sessions in the municipalities of Faro, Lagoa, Vila Real de Santo António, Loulé and now Lagos.

AMAL's Intermunicipal Assembly meetings are held twice a year, with the next one due to take place in December, in Castro Marim.
