Also part of the purposes of the initiative «to articulate the texts proposed for reading in the curricular goals of Portuguese, to contribute to the development of the National Reading Plan and, also, to encourage the use of the school and municipal library, at the same time as marking the World Day of the Portuguese Language, which is celebrated on the 5th of May», according to the Municipality of Portimão.

Prizes are destined for the first three classified in each step (1st cycle, 2nd cycle, 3rd cycle and secondary), while the remaining participants will win participation prizes.

The first classified in each category will receive 125 euros. Whoever comes in 2nd wins 100 euros and whoever comes in 3rd gets 75 euros. The remaining participants will receive the value of 25 euros for their participation.

The eleventh edition of the “Momentos de Leitura” competition was divided into three stages, the first of which ran until the end of January, through selection by class in each group.

The second phase, which ended at the end of March, consisted of selecting each Group, followed by the last phase, which corresponds to the municipal phase, in which students should prepare the reading of a poem chosen by the Manuel Teixeira Library Gomes, according to the schooling cycle.

The teachers who evaluated the young competitors took into account several selection criteria, including reading fluency, respect for punctuation/intonation, diction/pronunciation, intonation, rhythm and expressiveness.

In this final test, the jury will be based on the same criteria.
