Academia de Música de Portimão has a lot to offer in May

The program has the support of the Municipality of Portimão

The diverse May program of the Academia de Música de Portimão (AMP) starts this Friday, the 5th, with the presentation of its chamber ensemble, at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, as part of the celebrations of the World Day of the Portuguese Language.

During the concert, scheduled for 19 pm in the multipurpose room of the Municipal Library of Portimão, a varied musical repertoire will be performed, interspersing classical and contemporary pieces with poetry, in a moment that intends to revisit some of the greatest authors of the Portuguese language.

The Chamber Ensemble of the Academia de Música de Portimão, made up of 8th grade/12th grade students, is composed of piano, transverse flute, saxophone and trumpet.

Also today, May 5th, the Mother Church of Alvor will host a flute and classical guitar concert, scheduled for 21:30.

João Figueiras Lourenço, on the transverse flute, and Juan León, on the classical guitar, offer us a musical journey through the virtuosic repertoire written for these two instruments, which will begin in Italy with the classical-romantic composer Mauro Giuliani and go on to the XNUMXth century South American music, with Astor Piazzola.

To mark Europe Day, the main hall of the Town Hall of Portimão will host a commemorative concert on 9 May, at 21 pm, with free admission, by the Coral Adágio Group, under the direction of António Alves Pereira.

This will be followed on the 13th and 14th by the 'Let's make Music!' event, which will take place at the Portimão Music Academy and at Casa das Artes.

The activity, divided into both days in the morning (10:00 am to 13:00 pm) and afternoon (14:00 pm to 18:00 pm), aims to encourage group musical practice and welcome young music students from various levels of Specialized Artistic Music Education.

Under the guidance of professors Ricardo Baptista (classical guitar), Cristina Pires (oboe) and Bruna Melia (cello), the initiative foresees a final presentation by the students on May 14th, starting at 19 pm, at Casa das Artes, with the If interested, register through the following contacts: [email protected] / +00 351 282 426 / 290 966 642 and/or https://amportimao.pt

Finally, for the 19th, the concert “The Piano and its Dances” has been scheduled, which will start at 21 pm in the small auditorium of TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, with free admission.

Inspired by the intrinsic relationship between music and dance, pianist Jeferson de Mello will interpret two great works from the keyboard repertoire: the English Suite No. 3 in G Minor BWV 808 by JS Bach and Davidsbündlertänze Op. 6 – 1st notebook by Robert Schumann, in a commented concert format with the collaboration of some AMP piano students.

The program designed for May, which is part of the Academy's strategy to disseminate classical music in the municipality, has the support of the Municipality of Portimão.
