1200 people, most of them children, traveled to Prehistory this Saturday, May 13, at the Megalithic Monuments of Alcalar, in the interior of the municipality of Portimão.
The activity «A day in Pre-History», promoted by the Museum of Portimão, included an engraving workshop, grinding cereals and legumes, painting skin with natural dyes, baking bread, tasting beer made in the pre-historic way, hunting with bow and arrow, weaving, guided tour of the monuments, reconstruction of a burial in the main mound, among many other activities.
This time, the only thing missing was a fire to cook the black pig, prepared with flint knives, due to the risk of fire. But even a children's birthday party took place in the monument space.
The Group of Friends of the Portimão Museum, present at “A day of Pre-History, in Alcalar”, was responsible for the Engraving Workshop, which had the participation of about 400 children, printing the colorful images that symbolized the ancient shale plates.
