UAlg offers 1616 vacancies for the Higher Education Access Contest

Last year, the UAlg placement rate in the 1st phase was 97% and the number of 1st option candidates was 1717

The University of Algarve offers 1616 vacancies for the 2023 National Competition for Access to Higher Education, that is 81 more than in the previous academic year (2022/23).

With a view to promoting equity and opportunities for social mobility, for the first time a priority contingent will be made available for economically disadvantaged students, which UAlg has joined in the pilot implementation phase, with 2% of vacancies for each cycle of studies ( or two vacancies) for candidates benefiting from step A of school social action.

UAlg thus offers 45 undergraduate courses and an integrated master's degree.

For the 2023/2024 academic year, the UAlg offers, as in 2022/2023, incentive scholarships, within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, for students who enroll in Higher Education.

These scholarships translate into an annual financial support in the amount of the tuition fee and are renewed annually up to the limit of the number of years of the course, provided that the student succeeds.

The main novelty for the next academic year is the anticipation of the entire calendar of placements for the national entrance competition, guaranteeing a minimum period of 15 days between the placement of the 1st phase and the beginning of the teaching activity (currently non-existent) and the placements of all students placed by the CNA during the month of September.

In this way, says a statement from the Directorate-General for Higher Education, «the start of teaching activity is guaranteed practically simultaneously for all new students, avoiding the loss of about 3 weeks of classes for students placed in the 2nd phase and about 6 weeks of classes for students placed in the 3rd phase».

All students who enter the University of Algarve (UAlg) as their first choice, with an application grade equal to or greater than 17 points, will receive an excellence scholarship. Awarded to the best students in each undergraduate and integrated master's course, who enroll in the 1st year for the first time, the scholarships pay the tuition fee in full in the academic year 2023/2024. The tuition fee remains at 697,00 euros, which can be paid in ten monthly installments.

UAlg offers initial and postgraduate training courses in its various areas of training: Arts, Communication and Heritage; Exact and Natural Sciences; Social Sciences and Education; Health Sciences and Technologies; Economy, Management and Tourism; Engineering and Technologies.

The normal deadline for submitting an application for the first phase runs from the 24th of July to the 7th of August. Enrollment and enrollment in higher education institutions for candidates placed in the 1st phase of the national competition takes place from 28 to 30 August.

Last year, the UAlg placement rate in the 1st phase was 97% and the number of 1st option candidates was 1717.
