The 36th Academic Week of the Algarve takes place from the 28th of April to the 6th of May, at Complexo Desportivo da Penha, in Faro, and the organization hopes, this year, to surpass the barrier of 40 thousand visitors.

Ivandro, Diogo Piçarra, Danni Gato, Bárbara Bandeira and Rosinha are some of the strong names of poster that has already been unveiled by the Academic Association of the University of Algarve.

In statements to the Sul Informação, Fábio Zacarias, president of AAUAlg, gave an account of expectations for the great party of Algarve students.

«We have a program with very diversified music that meets what the students are looking for and also the Faro population itself, namely with the concerts of Bárbara Bandeira, Ivandro and Diogo Piçarra, who does not play in Faro some time ago," he said.

One of the novelties this year is that there will be no electronic tent, but a secondary stage, where the winning bands of Palco RUA will perform at the beginning of the night.

As for the RUA Stage, which will be set up in Baixa de Faro, there is also a new fact: this year, the concerts will take place before the Academic Week, from 19 to 22 April.

«The objective will be the same: to promote Algarve musical projects, but, by doing it earlier, we will make it possible for the students themselves, the tunas, our organization, to be present at the event», explained Fábio Zacarias.

After the Academic Week went «very well» last year, this year AAUAlg increased the event's budget, which is around 650 thousand euros.

«We are 10% above what was invested last year, because we bet on another strong day: Sunday, with Diogo Piçarra, which will be the eve of the May 1st holiday. Our goal is to have a return», said Fábio Zacarias.

Moreover, ticket pre-sales «had a good result».

«If we maintain this same line, with the numbers we expect, we will have the possibility to continue to invest the students of the University of Algarve, in projects such as scholarships, for example», he concluded.
