Sagres: Body of a man found floating on Martinhal beach

Body was transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Portimão to be identified

The body of a man was found this morning floating near Martinhal beach, in Sagres.

According to the National Maritime Autodirdade, the alert was given by a fisherman around 7:00 am this Friday, and elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos and the Lifeguard Station of Sagres were immediately sent to the site. , as well as the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila do Bispo.

The body was collected from the water by the crew of the Salva-vidas Station and transported to Porto da Baleeira, in Sagres, where death was declared on the spot by the Health Delegate.

The victim was then transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Portimão by the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila do Bispo, where his identification will be confirmed.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Lagos took care of the incident.

Since last April 7th, it has been a 27-year-old American missing, after taking a dip from the cliff, between Praia do Barranco and Praia da Ingrina, also in the Sagres area.

Despite being searched for days, the body of the deceased young man was never found.

It is still unknown whether it could be the corpse found this morning in Martinhal.
