Fish, meat dishes, sandwiches, salads and cocktails make up the menu at the restaurant on Praia de São Rafael, in Albufeira, which has now reopened for the new season.
The menu is inspired by the Portuguese gastronomic tradition, and adapted to «a versatile cuisine». As starters there are strips of breaded cuttlefish, Bulhão Pato clams, shrimp Al Ajillo, breaded squid rings, tomato octopus and crispy chicken wings. Also noteworthy are the Caesar salads, with smoked salmon and the São Rafael salad, which combines shrimp, lettuce, egg, feta cheese, sauce cocktail, tomato, croutons and pineapple.
As far as sandwiches are concerned, the options include tuna and spicy chicken baguettes, Mexican style hot dogs and the special São Rafael steak – consisting of sirloin steak, garlic butter, chutney, cheese mozzarella cheese, ham, lettuce and tomato.
As for the main dishes, the restaurant offers a selection of grilled fish, as well as kebabs and traditional cod and octopus à la Gareiro dishes. Meat options range from the grilled T-Bone to the sirloin steak with garlic butter or the sirloin steak with mushroom butter. Other available alternatives are chicken, monkfish and prawns or octopus and chorizo kebabs.
In the vegetarian options, highlight for the pasta penne with asparagus, dried tomatoes, mushrooms and basil oil, as well as vegetable curry. A special menu with options for children is also available.
As desserts, chocolate mousse, lemon mousse and flan pudding stand out.
The bar menu offers suggestions for cocktails house exclusives, such as the São Rafael Silver Fizz (Tanqueray, lemon juice, lime juice, mandarin puree and sparkling water) and Citrus Mint Explosion (Vodka, limoncello, sorbet of lemon and mint). Finally, sangria de São Rafael, with passion fruit, «is one of the drinks most appreciated by the restaurant's customers».
The restaurant is part of the São Rafael Holidays tourist complex, a brand of the PBH Group, and is open daily from 9 am to 00 pm (with the kitchen open until 20 pm).
The concession on the beach operates from 9:00 am to 17:30 pm in April (Easter) and May, and from 9:00 am to 19:00 pm during the summer.
