Fisherman with renal colic rescued from boat off Olhão

Man was transported to hospital

A 57-year-old fisherman who had symptoms of renal colic while sailing about three miles (approximately six kilometers) southwest of Barra da Armona, in the municipality of Olhão, was rescued by the crew of the Estação Salva-vidas de Olhão, today, day 3, in the morning.

​Following the alert received at 10:17 am, «informing that one of the fishermen needed to be evacuated, a vessel from the Olhão Lifeguard Station was immediately activated», according to the National Maritime Authority.

«Upon arrival at the fishing vessel, the crew of the Salva-vidas Station proceeded to rescue the victim, a 57-year-old man with strong symptoms of renal colic, then transporting him to the pier of the Lifesaving Station in Olhão» .

The victim was assisted on the pier by elements of the Municipal Fire Department of Olhão, and was subsequently transported to the hospital.
