Algarve Jazz Orchestra and singer Paula Oliveira give concert in Albufeira

In celebration of International Jazz Day

Albufeira will celebrate International Jazz Day with the concert “After You`ve Gone”, performed by Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve and singer Paula Oliveira, scheduled for April 30, at 18 pm, at the Municipal Auditorium.

Admission to the concert is free (subject to room capacity) and tickets must be picked up at the Municipal Auditorium, on the day of the show, from 16:30 pm to 17:45 pm.

In this show, assures the Câmara de Albufeira, «there will be no shortage of big hits like “Come Rain or Come Shine”, “Fly Me To The Moon”, “Let The Good Times Roll” or the more 80's sounds like “This Masquerade”.

«A highlight for some orchestrations by Claus Nymark, a Danish musician residing in Portugal for decades, who has contributed a lot to Portuguese Jazz, whether in teaching, as a musician or directing the Angrajazz Orchestra, in the Azores».

Paula Oliveira, on the other hand, is, according to the municipality, “an unavoidable jazz singer in the national jazz scene. (…) She studied at the Hot Club of Portugal, Taller de Musics of Barcelona and Manhattan School Of Music (New York), where she resided. The list of mentors is huge, including names like Phil Woods, Norma Winston, Reggie Workman, to name just a few. From Jazz to Portuguese Music, there are several edited works».
