Municipality of Lagos promotes drills in eight locations in the municipality

Under the “Aldeia Segura” and “Pessoas Segura” programs

The Municipality of Lagos will promote, during the month of April and May, simulations in eight locations in the municipality.

The initiative is carried out within the scope of the “Aldeia Segura” and “Pessoas Segura” programs and will take place in rural areas of the territory.

The objective of the Civil Protection and Defense of the Forest Service, the National Republican Guard and the Lagos Fire Brigade is «to raise awareness and inform the population about evacuation routes and places of shelter or collective refuge in their area of residence with the help of a local security officer», says the municipality in a note.

Implemented under a protocol between the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP) and the National Association of Parishes (ANAFRE), “Aldeia Segura” is a program to protect population centers and Forest protection and is intended to establish «structural measures for the protection of people and goods, and buildings in the urban-forestry interface, with the implementation and management of protection zones for agglomerations and strategic infrastructure, identifying critical points and locations of refuge».

The “Safe People” program aims to promote “awareness-raising actions for the prevention of risky behaviour, self-protection measures and carrying out simulations of evacuation plans, in conjunction with local authorities”.

The simulation program is scheduled for the 21st at Farta Vacas, the 24th at Colinas Verdes, the 27th at Pincho and the 28th at Pedra Branca, always at 19 pm.

On the 9th of May it's Monte Ruivo's turn, the 10th at Barão de S. João, the 12th at Colégio (all at 19 pm) and the 00th at Bensafrim (at 13 am).
