Minister of Culture visits cultural and artistic projects in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo

This Friday's Route focuses on «projects supported by the Ministry of Culture that stimulate local development in the regions where they are inserted»

This Friday, April 28, the Minister of Culture Pedro Adão e Silva will carry out another route dedicated to the “Culture that we are”, passing through São Luís, in the interior of the municipality of Odemira, Castro Verde and Casais (Monchique).

According to a note from the Ministry of Culture, this route aims to «know and give voice to the actions, aspirations and dynamics that constitute the Portuguese cultural reality».

This Friday's route focuses on "projects supported by the Ministry of Culture that stimulate local development in the regions where they operate, contributing to their visibility, job creation and affirmation of regional identity".

During this tour, Pedro Adão e Silva will meet entities supported under the Support Program Sustained by the Directorate-General for Arts (DGARTES), including “Futurama”, Cultural and artistic ecosystem of Baixo Alentejo (in Castro Verde) , and the artistic projects “Cultivamos Cultura” (São Luís) and “Lavrar o Mar” (Casais, Monchique).

The official highlights “the importance of culture as a factor in the development of territories and in the transformation of their identity. In low-density territories, culture is also a powerful form of community involvement for young people».

Pedro Adão e Silva also adds that culture «is a close link and it is up to the Minister of Culture to know the artistic and cultural production that takes place throughout the country».

The “Cultura que Somos” initiative started on September 20, 2022 in the district of Lisbon, dedicated to Urban Culture.

In October, the same theme took the Minister of Culture to four municipalities in the north of the country: Famalicão, Braga, Barcelos and Guimarães.

Inclusion, which is the second theme in focus in these Routes, had its first edition on the 22nd of November in Lisbon, Leiria and Coimbra, and a second edition on the 18th and 19th of January in the municipalities of Porto and Esposende.

In March, the initiative passed through the Autonomous Region of Madeira, on a journey dedicated to various cultural projects in the context of insularity.

Conceived in terms of territorial coverage, the Ministry of Culture Routes are organized on a thematic basis, and may take place on consecutive or alternate days.
