Land, sea and air means have been looking, since Saturday at the end of the day, for a 17-year-old girl who disappeared on a paddle board, pushed by the wind, on Coelho beach, in Vila Real de Santo António.
The Captain of Porto and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Vila Real de Santo António and Tavira, Commander João Afonso Martins, told the Lusa agency that the searches took place throughout the night and continue today during the day, with the support of an airplane. of the Spanish Air Force and Instituto de Socorro a Náufragos.
“We tried to send as many means as possible in the first few minutes, but so far it has not been possible to locate” the young woman, lamented commander João Afonso Martins.
The official explained that, during the initial hours of the operation, which started around 20:30 pm on Saturday, 20 operators were involved in seven means in the water, as well as a heavy helicopter from the Air Force, a rescue boat for shipwrecked people from Spain and other means of the GNR and Civil Protection, among others.
