Medina expects a significant reduction in inflation from April

The Minister of Finance said today, March 11th, that he expects a significant decrease in inflation from April onwards, even believing in a decrease in the prices of some goods.

The official was speaking at a parliamentary hearing at the Budget and Finance Commission (COF), within the scope of a powerful request by Chega on the zero VAT measure on essential goods.

Fernando Medina noted that the inflation rate had already decreased in the final months of 2022 and early 2023, hoping that «the reduction will become more significant over the coming months, in particular from April».

According to the minister, the forecast is that the deceleration of price growth will continue in the «remaining months until the end of the year».

He also defended the agreement for the temporary reduction of VAT on essential goods, which he hopes "will be successful".

«For some goods we will have this stabilization, but also the expectation we have is that for others there will actually be a decrease in prices, which are already happening in international markets, are already happening in goods that serve other goods that are then consumed in a different way. another way», he stressed, highlighting a reduction in the prices of some raw materials.
