Doctor who reported errors at Hospital de Faro says it will sue doctors

And admitted to being placed in another unit of the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve

The doctor who denounced alleged cases of errors and negligence in the Surgery service of Hospital de Faro said today that she will sue the doctors of the service and admitted to being placed in another unit of the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve.

Diana Pereira was interviewed this morning at the Hospital de Portimão as part of the internal investigation launched by the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), following the allegations of alleged medical malpractices in Surgery, the service where she carried out her medical internship.

At the entrance to the unit and when confronted by journalists with the announcement that a doctor and the director of the General Surgery service at Hospital de Faro were going to proceed with a defamation lawsuit, the doctor indicated that she would also sue them.

At the end of the hearing, Diana Pereira, accompanied by lawyer Francisco Teixeira da Mota, told journalists that she hopes that the investigations of the reported cases "take place as quickly as possible, so that the medical internship can continue".

Diana Pereira said she had no desire to continue in the Surgery service at Hospital de Faro, admitting to being placed in another health unit in the Algarve hospital centre.

"I don't want to go on Faro, but the hospital center has more units and it may be that, in the meantime, it will be placed in one of them», he underlined.
