"Higher!" to celebrate the power of words and music in Silves

Show ends April 25 celebrations in Silves

The musical show “More Alto!”, which takes to the stage of Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório on May 6th, at 16 pm, closes the celebrations of the 00th anniversary of April 49th in Silves.

Aimed at children and young people, but open to adults, this concert aims to celebrate the power of words and music, using a pedagogical approach around the concept and practice of democracy. Admission is free.

Silves is the first Municipality in the Algarve to host this musical produced by the Commemorative Commission for the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.

By Afonso Cabral, Francisca Cortesão, Inês Sousa, Isabel Minhós Martins and Sérgio Nascimento, “Mais Alto!” is a hymn to democracy, presenting it as a meeting between all people to build a better society, one of freedom, where different voices and opinions coexist.

Healthy environment, health care, fair wages, quality school, peace, equality and diversity are the priority themes revisited by a songbook in Portuguese, on a journey that will not leave children and young people indifferent, by teaching that music can help change the world, remembering that democracy is an unfinished process, requiring care and improvement, to reach further and higher.

This concert has been on tour since March 2022, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974, having already taken more than fifty shows to 35 cities across the country.
