Loulé will have an Inclusion Desk

Loulé will have an Inclusion Desk. O The Municipality and the National Institute for Rehabilitation celebrated this Friday, April 28, in the Main Hall of the Town Hall, a protocol with a view to its creation. 

The session was chaired by Ana Sofia Antunes, Secretary of State for Inclusion, «who reinforced the importance of this response
social», stresses the municipality.

This branch is «a specialized gateway» for people with disabilities and their families, but also for the general public looking for information on these matters.

According to the Câmara de Loulé, the Inclusion Desk will include global and integrated information on the rights, benefits and existing resources for these people.

The service will work in conjunction with the municipality's social network, providing information on benefits and social responses (residential homes, occupational activity centers, rehabilitation centres, etc.), employment and professional training, support products/technical aid, tax benefits, accessibility and transport, health, early intervention and education, supporting users in finding the most appropriate solutions for their specific situation.

«Situations related to the existence of potential discrimination are also among the most sought after topics for those who access this service at the branches that already exist in the country», as Ana Sofia Antunes said.

 

 

In Loulé, the Branch will operate as an itinerant service, which can be booked through the telephone contact provided for this purpose.

«The creation of this branch is another step towards improving the living conditions of people with disabilities and their families through the promotion of equal opportunities and full social and economic participation», stresses the Chamber.

The network of Inclusion Desks began to be created in 2016. Currently, there are 116 existing structures across the country.

«We are growing slowly, but consistently and we managed to demonstrate that this was a right and concerted bet», said the person in charge of the portfolio.

Ana Sofia Antunes, who has already been to Loulé at other times linked to interventions in the area of ​​inclusion, welcomed the Municipality, noting that Loulé is a municipality that «goes for all» in terms of commitment to projects, applications and welcoming, in a pioneering initiatives, namely in terms of physical accessibility, with physical work carried out with «a great impact on the quality of life of people with disabilities or with some type of mobility impairment and the elderly».

We know that there is still a lot to do in this chapter of inclusion of people, and people with disabilities even more”, considered Vítor Aleixo. The Mayor of Loulé also highlighted the initiative of the President of the Municipal Assembly, which allowed standardizing the implementation of sign language in initiatives promoted by the Municipality.
