Several internships are taking place throughout the month of April

The new athletics track at Estádio da Bela Vista, in Lagoa, is hosting, during the month of April, training camps for teams from various European countries.

«There has been a lot of demand to carry out internships on the new athletics track at Estádio da Bela Vista, among foreign teams, national teams and national teams, several athletes have been training on the latest track, with the excellent conditions that it offers, as well as on the four existing ramps», announces the Municipality of Lagoa in a note.

During the Easter period, the Bela Vista Stadium athletics track received a team from Germany (LG Brilux Muenster), another from Denmark (Vejle if Atletik) and two from Belgium (Zwat and Atletiek Volharding Beveren), for a total of more than 40 athletes.

Also during the past week, from the 17th to the 22nd of April, the Bela Vista athletics track hosted the training camp of the National Team of
Portuguese Athletics Federation (FPA), where the national 400m/400m coach and 12 athletes summoned by the FPA were present.

According to the municipality, these internships «represent an important source of revenue for the local economy and confirm the relevance of municipal policies for the sports development of the municipality, which invests in the constant improvement of sports equipment».

«We work daily to promote sports in the municipality, to provide the best conditions for our athletes. However, we are also committed to sports tourism as a support for our local economy. Having excellent sports facilities and seeing them recognized in Europe is an asset for the municipality», says Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa.

The Chamber also points out that the athlete Patrícia Mamona often chooses Lagoa and the athletics track at Estádio da Bela Vista to train, having even attended the inauguration ceremony of the new track.
