Spaniard Joel del Ojo is the first yellow jersey of the Volta ao Concelho de Loulé Júnior

The first 58,8 kilometers of the competition connected Ameixial to the center of Loulé

The Spaniard Joel del Ojo (Team Vino Junior) is the first yellow jersey of the 28th Volta ao Concelho de Loulé Júnior, after having won this Thursday, April 6th, the inaugural stage.

The first 58,8 kilometers of the competition connected Ameixial to the center of Loulé, providing the first clash between the runners, but leaving everything open for the remaining three stages.

Foreign teams entered the competition stronger, taking advantage of the first stage to move to the front of all the classifications in dispute. The most important, the individual general, is commanded by Joel del Ojo, who arrived alone at the finish line.

The rider from the team inspired by Alexander Vinokourov completed the stage in 1h23m43, leaving the peloton 4 seconds behind. In the immediate positions were placed Sérgio Batista (Landeiro/KTM/Matias & Araújo/Frulact) and Antonio Arias (Valverde Team/Ricardo Fuentes). If there are no bonuses, the general replicates the order of arrival of the stage.

Due to the points obtained in flying goals, Antonio Arias is first in the regularity classification. The mountain jersey is worn by Luis Lajarín (Valverde Team/Ricardo Fuentes), while the classification of the best first year junior is topped by Marti Mir (Saxun/Extrusax/Primoti). For teams, the collective Valverde Team/Ricardo Fuentes commands.

The classification will be much more defined after Friday's double journey. At 9:50 am the runners depart from Avenida Laginha Serafim (place of all arrivals in the city of Loulé). They will complete 82 kilometres, which include four mountain awards, all in the second half of the journey. The end is scheduled for around noon.

The afternoon stage is a team time trial of 10,9 kilometers. It starts and ends at Avenida Laginha Serafim and starts at 16:30 pm.
