IEFP inaugurates Active Aging Competence Center in Loulé

The Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) will inaugurate the Protocol Center for Active Aging Competences (CCEA), on the 27th of April, at Palácio Gama Lobo, in Loulé, from 15 pm.

The Center aims to «promote training in providing care for the elderly, enhance the human resources involved in providing care for the elderly, in order to qualify and re-qualify workers, and invest in training and qualification for the provision of differentiated care for Innovative training responses providing assets with skills for more effective responses to the needs of active aging in Portuguese society», says the institute in a note.

The actions promoted by the CCEA are aimed at job seekers in professional areas that fall within the scope of the Centre's attributions, including those who are unemployed, through the attendance of professional training that enhances the rapid (re)entry and quality in the labor market.

In addition, they are intended for employees of entities involved in providing care to the elderly, informal caregivers of the elderly and entities that promote the creation and/or development of projects in this area.

The Protocol Center for Active Aging Competences is inaugurated following the protocol signed between the Institute of Employment and Professional Training and the academic institutions of the Reference Centers for Active Aging with European recognition that are part of the Portuguese Network for Healthy and Active Aging (RePEnSA ), namely the University of Beira Interior (UBI), the Association for the Development of the Algarve Biomedical Research and Training Center (AD-ABC) and the Social Security Institute.

The Center has had the support of the Municipality of Loulé since the design phase, which has even provided land for the construction of the future building.

The opening ceremony will be attended by Ana Mendes Godinho, Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Vítor Aleixo, President of the Loulé Municipal Chamber, and Secretary of State for Labour, Miguel Fontes.
