Sardine Festival is candidate for Event of the Year at the AHRESP awards

This year's edition will take place from the 1st to the 6th of August

The Portimão Sardine Festival is a finalist candidate in the category of Event of the Year of the AHRESP 2023 Awards, of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Companies of Portugal.

The application comes after the Festival was elected the best summer gastronomic event in Europe in 2022 by the well-known travel website Big 7 Travel.

Voting for the election in this category, among others, will run until 7 May, and interested parties should access the AHRESP website dedicated to the contest (premiosahresp.com.pt), where the categories and all the candidates, including projects, can be found. events, services, establishments, training entities, gastronomic revelations, tourist destinations, products, professionals, talents, etc.

The selection of the winner in each category is based on a weighted average of 50 percent of the online vote, while the remaining 50 percent will be defined by the vote of the honor committee, made up of renowned figures, in the overwhelming majority associated with Tourism and to Social Communication.

The numbers referring to the six previous editions attest to the importance of this AHRESP initiative for the sector, with 40 awards, 20 honorees and more than 900 competitors, distributed in 16 categories, with a participation of more than 27 thousand voters.

The 26th edition of the Sardine Festival took place between the 3rd and 7th of August, beating all the peaks of attendance with 110 entries, a daily average of over 20 visits.

During the five days of the gastronomic event, and just inside the enclosure, three tons of sardines were consumed.

Once again with free admission, this year's edition will take place from the 1st to the 6th of August and is already in preparation, with emphasis on the historical recreation of the sardine unloading, opening the event, as well as the musical lineup on the main stage: Carlão (day 1), Aurea (day 2), André Sardet (day 3), Virgul (day 4), Cuca Roseta (day 5) and Tony Carreira (day 6).
