Faro live “Jazz Days” with national and international artists

7th edition runs from April 30th to May 14th and will feature national and international artists

The 7th edition of the festival “Os Dias do Jazz”, which is back in the city of Faro, from April 30th to May 14th, will bring together national and international artists.

The beginning is scheduled for the International Jazz Day, April 30th, at Teatro das Figuras, with the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the release of the album “A Jazzar no Cinema Português”, commissioned by the Cineclube de Faro to bassist Zé Eduardo, whose songs were chosen by Anabela Moutinho

According to the bassist, it is a concert that will have a band of 10 musicians and «arrangements on the same songs, but that will sound completely different».

Zé Eduardo believes that this commemoration will bring many people to Teatro das Figuras, «more than just the people who have the record, of which there are many, and who want to see what happens 20 years later», he tells the Sul Informação.

For those who don't know what to expect, the artist clarifies that it will be a concert in which he will interpret «eternal songs (and that everyone knows) with a very jazzy vision».

After this start, on the 4th of May, at Club Farense, the presentation of the album “NIM” follows, the new work of the group Leon Baldesberger's Meersalz, which invites Sara Badalo and Desidério Lázaro.

Gil Silva, director of Teatro das Figuras, tells our newspaper that, once again, the poster was designed to provide a stage for «various artists» so that «the public is also diversified», within the musical genre.

Despite noting that «jazz is a form of music with a very large audience», he emphasizes that the latest editions have gathered «a reasonable audience».

Even so, the director of Teatro das Figuras says that the festival “Os Dias do Jazz” helps to promote this musical style. «Above all, it also helps to cement an offer of jazz musicians that exist here in the Algarve, particularly in Faro, because it also gives them the stage at an event that is already gaining some notoriety», concludes Gil Silva.

On the 5th of May, Teatro Lethes opens its doors to Desidério Lázaro Quartet, celebrating more than a decade of editions. “Oblivion”, the 9th album in his own name by the Algarve author, plays, which emerges as the concluding album of the tetralogy started with Samsara (2012), followed by Moving (2018) and Homegrown (2019), whose dominant theme was the philosophical reflection on the condition human nature and emotions.

It's the turn of the British Ebi Soda, who make their innovative approach heard at the Teatro das Figuras, on the 6th of May.

This year, more new music will also be highlighted, with Miguel Martins accompanied by two important names in Portuguese Jazz, José Salgueiro on drums and Carlos Barreto on double bass. The Miguel Martins group “Kaleidoscope” presents its new album “ATMAN” at the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos, on the 12th of May.

The moment that brings together the largest number of musicians on stage takes place at Teatro das Figuras on the 13th of May, with the great voice of Brazilian Jazz Alaíde Costa joining the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve for a night at the Grand Auditorium.

The festival ends at Club Farense, on the 14th, with Zé Eduardo, who invites all music lovers to “Um Copo de Jazz” for an evening of high quality Jazz by the hand of one of the best European saxophonists, Perico Sambeat , accompanied by the bassist's solid trio.

Tickets are already available at the venues and cost between 5 and 10 euros
