Man arrested who had cannabis plantation in São Bartolomeu de Messines

Man had a criminal record

A 36-year-old man who had dozens of cannabis plants in his house and more than a kilo of heads of this plant, was arrested for drug trafficking, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, yesterday, April 18th.

Following work that had been going on «about two months ago», soldiers from the GNR's Criminal Investigation Nucleus (NIC) of Silves carried out a house search of the suspect's house, where they found «30 cannabis plants, 1,051 kilos of heads of cannabis plants and 139 pots with plants in the germination phase.

In the operation, three greenhouses, a smart TV, a laptop, a mobile phone, a precision scale, a crusher, a sieve and various utensils associated with the preparation of the drug were also seized.

The suspect, with a criminal record for the same type of crime, will be present for the first judicial interrogation today, the 19th, at the Judicial Court of Silves.

On Monday, another man engaged in cannabis production was detained by the GNR in Albufeira.
