Crisis/inflation: Support of 90 euros starts to be paid today to 1 million families

In order for the amount to reach families with an eligible profile, it is necessary to register or update the IBAN with Social Security Direct

The first quarterly extraordinary support for vulnerable families, worth €90 (€30 per month) begins to be paid today to around one million families.

At stake is one of the extraordinary measures to support family income and which consists of the allocation of 30 euros per month, paid quarterly, with the 90 euros that will be paid today corresponding to the first quarter of this year.

In a statement released this Wednesday, the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security states that the payment is made by bank transfer “to all households benefiting from the social electricity tariff and minimum social benefits, in a global amount of 90 millions of euros".

The next payments, "also in the amount of 90 euros, will be made in the months of June, August and November", refers to the same information, indicating that, in total for the year, the households covered by the measure will receive miliaries will receive a global amount of 360 euros.

For the amount to reach families with an eligible profile, it is necessary to register or update the IBAN with Social Security Direct. Those who have not yet carried out this step can still do so, with "guaranteed retroactive payment of support after the respective update".

This support is intended for families residing in Portugal who are beneficiaries of the Social Electricity Tariff (TSEE), by reference to the month of March 2023, according to the information available on the Social Security website.

“Families that are not beneficiaries of the TSEE are also entitled to this support, but in which at least one of the elements of the household is beneficiary of one of the minimum social benefits provided or in which one of the children is the holder of a family allowance of 1 .º or 2.º scale”, it is mentioned.

It should be remembered that minimum social benefits are considered to be the social insertion income, the solidarity supplement for the elderly, the social disability pension under the special disability protection regime, the supplementary social benefit for inclusion, the old-age social pension and the social unemployment benefit.
